Getting started

• Draw with the pencil (P), or pick a shape: line L, arrow A, square R, oval O, triangle T.
• Press ⌘C to copy the drawing as a PNG, then paste it anywhere. ⌘S saves it as a file.
• Press ⌘N for a fresh napkin. It's undoable, so nothing is lost by accident.
• While Napkin is running, ⌃⌥N brings a blank napkin forward from any app.

Troubleshooting

⌃⌥N doesn't do anything. Napkin has to be running for the shortcut to work, and closing the napkin window quits the app. Minimize it instead of closing it. If another app already uses ⌃⌥N, that app may receive it first.

Typing switches tools instead of writing. Choose the Text tool (W) and click the napkin first. While you're typing, the one-key tool shortcuts pause. Press Return to finish, ⌥Return for a new line, or Esc to cancel.

I started a new napkin and lost my drawing. Press ⌘Z to undo New Napkin, or choose File ▸ Reopen Last Napkin (⇧⌘R) to bring back the last drawing Napkin saved.

I need a transparent background. Press ⇧⌘T, or use the transparency button in the ink bar, before you copy or save. The eraser cuts real holes in transparent exports.

The palettes disappeared. They fade out when the pointer leaves the window. Move the pointer back over Napkin and they return.

How do I move the window? Drag the empty space around the napkin, or drag either palette.

How do I edit text I already wrote? Double-click it, or select it with the Move tool (V) and press ⌘E. With the Move tool you can also drag its handles to resize or turn it.

Uninstalling

Drag Napkin from Applications to the Trash. To also remove the saved napkin and preferences, delete ~/Library/Containers/com.zackjordan.Napkin.
