Privacy Policy

Napkin collects no data. It has no account, no analytics, no ads and no network code. Your drawings and settings stay on your Mac.

Who this covers

This policy covers the Napkin app for macOS and this website, napkin.freddieland.com. Napkin is made by Zack Jordan (“I”, “me”).

What the app stores, and where

Napkin keeps a small amount of information on your Mac so it works the way you expect. None of it is sent anywhere.

  • Your most recent napkin. The last drawing that wasn't empty is saved automatically so File ▸ Reopen Last Napkin can bring it back. It lives inside Napkin's private sandbox folder: ~/Library/Containers/com.zackjordan.Napkin.
  • Three preferences. Your ink color, pen weight, and whether exports use a transparent background.
  • Things you export. A drawing only goes to the clipboard when you copy it, and only to a file when you save it to a place you choose.

What the app doesn't do

  • It doesn't make network connections. The only link in the app is Help ▸ Napkin Privacy Policy, which opens this page in your web browser.
  • It doesn't include analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code from anyone.
  • It doesn't ask for or read your contacts, location, photos, microphone, camera or files you haven't chosen.
  • It doesn't track you across apps or websites.

The system-wide shortcut ⌃⌥N uses the standard macOS hot key service. Napkin is told only when that exact key combination is pressed; it can't see anything else you type.

Information Apple may share

If you turn on sharing with app developers in macOS settings, Apple may give me crash reports and aggregate usage statistics for Napkin. Apple handles that under its own privacy policy, and the reports don't identify you to me.

This website

This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.

If you email me

If you write to support@freddieland.com, I'll use your email address and message only to reply to you. I don't add you to any list or share your message with anyone.

Deleting your data

Everything Napkin stores is on your Mac. Deleting Napkin removes its app, and you can remove its saved napkin and preferences by deleting the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.zackjordan.Napkin. Drawings you exported are ordinary files and images that you control.

Children

Napkin doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Because Napkin collects nothing, a change would only describe new features that work on your Mac.
